GnomeMeeting 0.98 aka the "Buddha Maitreya release" is available!
After several months of development and 1 week before its second official release birthday, GnomeMeeting 0.98 is available.
Download GnomeMeeting 0.98 today at the usual location. This is a major release with many changes and enhancements, and it should be the last release before the 1.0 cycle is reached.
H.323 enhancements include:
- Call hold support: calls can be hold and retrieved later,
- Call transfer support: any running call to another user,
- New h323 URL support: (RFC3508), of course callto URLs are still supported
- URL support in call forwarding (h323: and callto:) for incoming calls,
- Possibility to specify the UDP ports used when registering to gatekeepers
- Improved disconnection messages at call end,
- Improved gatekeeper registration error messages
- Full IPv6 support (thanks to Sébastion Josset),
- Support for the GNU Gatekeeper NAT penetration technique permits users to penetrate NAT as long as they register to a public and non-natted GNU GK (thanks to Chih-Weih Huang)
General enhancements include:
- Redesigned addressbook with new menus and drag-and-drop, now also supports special chars in group names
- Speed dials support: you can associate any number shortcut to callto: and h323: URLs for your contacts (e.g.: if speed dial 1 is h323:foo.net, dialing 1# will dial h323:foo.net)
- Improved ILS browser
- Improved ILS server, faster and more reliable (thanks to Paul)
- Experimental AVC and DC Firewire support (thanks to Georgi Georgiev and Bob Mroczka)
- New calls history: given, unanswered and received calls are now listed in the calls history, users can be called back or drag-and-dropped into one of the addressbook's groups
- Improved preferences dialog with a better organization of the options
- Dialogs are now HIG compliant
- New option to automatically clear the text chat
- Debug output contains timestamps and gets logged
- Improved Full Screen support
- New smileys
- New icons (thanks to Jakub Steiner)
- Many internal code changes to prepare GnomeMeeting to 1.00
Quicknet enhancements:
- Possibility to start a call immediately after '#' is pressed,
- Possibility to hold a call with '*1' and to transfer it with '*2'

Update - 2003-07-01: RedHat 9, Slackware 9, Mandrake 9.1, SUSE 8.2 and Debian Sid packages are available. The FAQ and the features list have been updated.
